Is your business embodying its greatest version? The power of your vision

Updated: Jul 15

Embodiment of the desired future state is becoming the norm according to renowned business coaches and personal development consultants.

It means that IN THE NOW, YOU or your BRAND, need to start BEING, ACTING and SPEAKING as your best vision.

But this can`t happen unless you have a clear vision of what you want your brand to be.

"Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others." — Jonathan Swift

The more I work with clients as a brand consultant, the more I realize how important this is. When business owners have a clear understanding and vision of their Brand they tend to make better decisions, have a truly create an impact in their niches.

Why is this important?

For individuals, envisioning the person they will become upon achieving their goals provides direction, motivation, and consistency. For businesses, a well-defined vision and subsequently and identity ensures differentiation, consistent messaging, and a proactive strategy. It is like dressing for success -vision + strategy -

How do you know if your company is embodying it`s greatest version?

Let's say you want to be a pro tennis player and right now you are an amateur. Think of all the decisions, habits, and sports gear you will need to embody NOW the professional you want to become.

For a business, it may seem more complicated but it is not.

Let`s do this little exercise:

Think of the greatest version of your company.

Take an honest look at how you are presenting your company to the market.

Answer these questions:

  1.       Do you have a clearer vision of its best version?

  2.       Do you honestly think your company looks isn't the best NOW?

  3.       Are your decisions leading you in that direction or do you make them more reactively according to the challenge of the day, month, or year?

  4.       Are you clear enough of how you are helping your customers in ways no other can and what is your special touch?

  5.       Looking at your website and all visuals, do you feel they express the ultimate, crazy big version of your dream company?

What is the power of this?

Not sure what I mean? Take a look at DOMINOS Pizza and what its CEO said in an interview for Marketing Week:

“Our vision is simple. We want to be the number one pizza company in the world and in every neighborhood”

Dominos

Dutch said Domino’s success is down to it having a “much clearer identity” than its rivals. He added that while it has a strategy on health, it won’t stray too far away from its core focus.

He explained: “We have got a much clearer identity and consistent sense of brand and self than most of our rivals. Our success is born out of a huge focus on digital innovation and e-commerce.

How do you as brand owner do it?

In my experience, both personally and with clients as a brand and identity designer at BRS STUDIO, the lack of embodiment in business is reflected in numerous ways and it stems from the absence of a clear vision and sense of self.

This demands substantial reflection and inner work! Yes, business inner work, like brand therapy.

Going through this process you will get:

  • ·      A clear sense of who the company is, where it is going, and how it is different

  • ·      A vision of your company's best-desired state:

  • ·      Which translates into:

  • ·      Vision driven decisions – your north-star.-

  • ·      Compelling visual identity -Not just a nice logo.-

  • ·      Clear messaging and tone of voice - How you speak to your customers.-

Conclusion:

The worst thing that can happen is that you know what you are doing but YOUR BUSINESS IS NOT EMBODYING IT`S BEST VERSION due to a poor visual identity and lack of consistency.

To end this article and more inspiration, look at some examples of vision-driven companies. You will understand the whole point as you read each one of them:

o   Be the best kitchen and laundry company, in constant pursuit of improving life at home.

Whirlpool

o   To be the company that best understands and satisfies the product, service, and self-fulfillment needs of women—globally.

Avon

o   To fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality.

Hilton Hotels

"It is not often that you find someone so talented in many different areas, Blanca is one of those rare gems. She really is the whole package! We approached her, asking her for help bringing our new brand to life and came away with so much more! More than beautiful designs, she patiently helped guide us to bring about the essence of our new brand and have clarity about what we wanted communicate to the world. And importantly she was able to transpose that vision that was deep within into reality with beautiful designs and copy that I can’t wait to share with everyone. I wish I had found her years ago for previous projects. I would definitely work with her again and thoroughly recommend her work! "
